A fun card!

Hi again,

Yes, 2 posts in one day...makes me wonder if this week is going to be THAT crazy that I'm willing to post twice to ensure I share these cards! :)

For this card, I chose to use the sketch from the retro sketches site. I found this site only recently but I LOVE their sketches! And, if I can squeeze in the time, I try to play along!

Here's the sketch and my card:
I used some papers from My Mind's Eye and a stamp set from Skipping Stones for this card. I LOVE it! I know exactly who it is going to, too! The stamp was inked several times on different pattern papers and then I flipped the sketch upside down. What's great about this sketch is that it is quite versatile...I see another idea for it and am hoping to get to it this week!

If you want to play along with a great sketch, join in! :)

Embossed baby card

Hi everyone!

Well, although my weekend was busy, I was able to carve out some time last night for some crafting. I hope you guys were able to get creative this weekend, too!

I wanted to share a baby card I made using a wonderful sketch from Unscripted Sketches. And, I don't know if this happens to everyone but I will go for a long time without doing a technique and then, all of a sudden, I remember how much I love it and start using it--a lot! That's happened to me with embossing! It had been a while since I used my embossing powder but I chose to use it on this card and enter it at V's Sweet Ideas Blog.

Here's the sketch and my card:
Isn't that a great sketch?! I LOVE clean lines and this sketch was perfect! I had just bought some $1 stamps from Jo-Anns Fabric that were little feet and little hands and I knew I could put those on the sides of the card with the cute "poem" in the center. I chose to emboss the little feet and hands and all the writing. Then I just added the ribbon and a pink gem and done! I love sketches that are easy and that you can tailor to so many different occasions. I know I'll be using this one for many different types of cards!

Hope you can join in on the fun--and happy Monday! :)

Sweet Sunday Sketch card (Post #2 for today)

Hi again!

I lucked out and was able to get some crafting time tonight...and I'm so happy right now! I hope you guys are planning on playing along with the AMAZING challenge at the Simon Says Stamp! blog this week. They have a prize that is GREAT! We had to use punches or dies--so I reached for my new faves--Simon Says Stamp! exclusive dies! But I needed some sketch inspiration so I jumped to the sweetest thing site. I try to play along with their sketches as often as I can--they're great! And this week was no exception!

Here's the sketch and then my card:
I started out with a dark brown card base and used DCWV's Mat Stack paper. I loved the rich color of the red pattern. Then, I die cut the chain-link fence die from Simon Says Stamp! in brown and the meadow rue die in white. I stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts in brown and then did some faux white stitching all along the card. I love how it turned out! Just a few gems and the card was done...

Seriously, join in on the challenge...up for grabs are many exclusive dies from Simon Says Stamp! and I LOVE the quality of their stuff!

Have a great weekend!

Color combo card

Hi all!

Just a really quick post tonight...hoping to continue crafting!

Although this current color challenge is over, I wanted to play along with the CR84FN site and make a card. They wanted us to use light blue, yellow and green.

Here's my card:
I haven't used this Hero Arts stamp for awhile--and I'd forgotten how much I love it! I love how you can pop up the butterflies to give the card some dimension. I heat embossed the insects and then colored them in using my blending pen and distress inks. I added the green ribbon and the card was done...with the sentiment on the inside.

Thanks for stopping by!

Caring Hearts Card Drive

Hi everyone!

I wanted to stop in tonight and share an amazing opportunity that I'll be involved with and that I'm hoping you guys will join, too. The talented Vera Yates is sponsoring a Caring Hearts Card Drive. Last year, she did this drive with Jennifer McGuire but this year Vera is putting it on solo.

So--what is it? Well, it's a card drive for the elderly that are living in nursing homes. I can't imagine being in a nursing home for the holidays and maybe not having family around to visit with. Because of that, I quickly volunteered to help deliver some of the cards to a nursing home that is close to my home.

Please check out the link above for more info and some general guidelines and, if possible, join us in making someone smile! Oh--and there will be tons of prizes up for grabs. (I know, we shouldn't do it for the prizes but sometimes we need a bit more incentive to get creative!) :)

Here's my card for the drive:
All papers are from My Mind's Eye "Merry little Christmas" pack. Added some punches and stickles and bling--and the card was done. Not sure where the sentiment is from, though--sorry!

Anyway, I hope you will all consider participating...I am sure the elderly people receiving the cards would be so appreciative! And what a great way to give back with a hobby that brings us so much joy, too.

Have a great Thurs!

World Card Making Day

Hi everyone!

I know, it's probably not World Card Making Day for most of you anymore--but it's not even 9 p.m. where I live! ;) So, I was able to squeak in with a card before the day is done.

I wanted to play along with a challenge over at V's Sweet Ideas blog. This month, she is encouraging us to use a technique that I love--embossing!

So, without further ado, here's my card.
I knew that I wanted to use my embossing folder for this card. The idea had been in my mind for a week or so--perfect timing for the challenge! The stamp is from the Dollar Store--and I found it years ago! I can't tell you all how many times I've used it! The sentiment is from a sympathy set from Hero Arts. The sketch has clean lines--which I love--and I used an old sketch from a site that sponsors "Sweet Sunday Sketch" themes. When I saw the sketch in my sketch book, I knew it would work well with the idea I had been dreaming up.

Hope you guys can join in on the challenge--embossing really is a very fun technique!

Happy World Card Making Day! :)

Another unscripted sketch card

Hi everyone!

Just popping in with a quick post. I'm crazy busy homeschooling again so I craft whenever I can and pray I can blog before the challenge is over!

I wanted to play along with this week's sketch from the great unscripted sketch site. It's a clean look and I love those!

Here's the sketch and my card:
Ever since I saw the chain-link fence die from Simon Says Stamp!, I had to get it! I love it! All pattern papers are from Teresa Collins--LOVE her style! I went ahead and cut two strips of the chain-link fence and connected them so that they'd form the background to the flowers. The flowers are also from Simon Says Stamp! and I can't say enough how great the dies are to work with! I added a banner sentiment (Hero Arts) and then added some turquoise gems and the card was done. Love the simplicity--yet intricacy--of the card.

Hope you guys are having a great week so far--and hope you can join in the fun! Pat
